NWEA
This week we will be going to the computer lab to take the NWEA test to show your child’s growth in Math and Reading. Each test is about 30 minutes.
Math Bags
Each bag has a math activity to help your child practice skills they need this year. Do your best to help your child play the game/complete the activity. The extra practice will be helpful. Sign the yellow form, and send the bag back on Thursdays. We appreciate questions and feedback to make these learning experiences even better. I hope you’re having fun! Thank you!
This Cycle
This cycle we have been practicing making inferences as we read. We realized that we infer all the time to figure things out. In social studies we will began a new unit on Economics. We will start this unit by learning about needs and wants. In writing we are beginning our unit on Informational Writing. Each child will have the opportunity to write up to 3 books. Each book will be about a topic they ‘know a lot about’. One book will be about a person, one will be about an animal and the last about an activity. In our new “We Thinkers” curriculum we are reading a book about ‘Whole Body Listening’. We learned that all 7 body parts must be calm and quiet for listening to occur.
Homework Websites
Please remember that your child has access to IXL math and Raz-Kids reading websites at home. These can be used on the computer or ipad and are an excellent way for your child to practice their skills at home! Please see the log-in information inside your child’s folder and the links I have posted on itslearning.
Have a good rest of the week!
