Cold Weather Clothing
The weather has started turning colder and snowier, especially in the morning.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the conditions. Practice zipping coats, putting on snow pants, hats, and mittens, and tying shoes at home.  The children are required to wear boots and snow pants in order to play in the snow at recess.  Please remember, we expect the children to be able to dress themselves in their outerwear.  When your child wears boots to school, you need to put a pair of inside shoes (that they can get on and off themselves) in their
backpack.  They will leave boots in the hall and change to their other shoes at the beginning of the day.  I will be happy to help with shoe tying and zipping until the Winter break.  After that, they are expected to take care of these things on their own.  Of course we will still untie knots and unstick stuck zippers!  Thank you for your help and support at home.

This Cycle
Our language arts strategy focused on sequencing as we read “The Life Cycle of a Frog”.  We talked about the stages in a frog’s life by using signal words like, first, next, and last.  In writing we have been working on pattern books. These have similar sentences on each page with a surprise ending.
In math and social studies we are practicing position words like over, under, between, below, above, in, out, etc.. In social studies we are also learning about maps and how we can be in our classroom, in our school, in our community, in our state and in our country all at the same time!! In science we are learning about how machines help us do work

Gingerbread Houses
We will be decorating our gingerbread houses on Tuesday, December 4th from about
8:30- 10:00 am.  Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the houses and materials! Thank you to everyone who helped us decorate too! You can come pick up your child’s house on Friday!

Ice Skating
Thanks to our PTO, our Lincoln School students will be able to ice skate for free at the Howard Ice Arena on Thursday, December 13.
Our students will walk with their buddies and teachers to and from the ice rink.
The ice-skating and skate rental is FREE for our students and any parents that can come and help.  The more adults we can have helping students with skates, the better! Students are encouraged to bring their own ice skates.  The number of skates per size is limited.  If your child has their own skates, label with their name and allow them to bring them that day.  Skates brought to and/or from school on the bus must be in a duffle bag or a brown paper bag.  Safety/protective helmets are also encouraged & welcomed.  This is our schedule for skating that day:
We will leave Lincoln at 8:45am. We will skate from 9:00- 9:45 and return to Lincoln around 10:00am.

Christmas Trees
Thank you to all of those that have sent in their decorated Christmas trees! They look wonderful in our hallway! Stop by and see how creative all of our families are!

Holiday Party
Our party will be on Friday, December 21st  at 12:45- 2:15. The parent in charge will be in contact with the volunteers soon! There is NOT going to be a gift exchange for the students.

Here is our December Calendar
